Tendinopathy

What Is Tendinopathy?

Tendinopathy is a common condition where a tendon—the strong tissue that connects muscle to bone—becomes irritated, weakened, or painful. It often develops over time from overuse, repetitive motion, or small injuries that don’t heal properly. You might feel stiffness, aching, or sharp pain, especially when using the affected area.

Tendinopathy can happen in many places, including the shoulder (rotator cuff), elbow (tennis or golfer’s elbow), wrist, hip, knee (patellar tendon), ankle (Achilles tendon), or foot (plantar fascia attachment), amongst others.

Why Non-Surgical Treatments Help

Most tendinopathies don’t need surgery. In fact, non-surgical treatments are very effective at reducing pain and restoring strength and function.

We use a variety of advanced, evidence-based options, including:

  • Exercise-based rehab to rebuild strength and flexibility

  • Activity guidance to protect the tendon while it heals

  • Shockwave therapy to stimulate repair and reduce chronic pain

  • Ultrasound-guided injections like dextrose-prolotherapy or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to support natural healing

These treatments help address the root cause of the pain—not just cover it up. Our goal is to get you moving again with less pain, better function, and no need for surgery.
