Dr. Scott Grogan
Dr. Scott Grogan is a 2005 graduate of the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a 20-year career in the United States Army as an active duty family physician and medical educator in 2025. During his Army career he completed fellowships in Leader & Faculty Development and Advanced Emergency Ultrasound. He spent the last four years of his Army career in primary care sports medicine and at Army Special Operations multidisciplinary clinics on Joint Base Lewis-McChord performing musculoskeletal (MSK) diagnostic exams, precision non-surgical treatments, and grant-funded research for MSK injuries.
He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSK) by the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement. He is a national key opinion leader in the implementation of point-of-care ultrasound programs and has taught ultrasound skills for numerous organizations at local, regional, and national venues.
He finished his Masters of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University with honors. He is a distinguished leader and educator and received many awards over the course of his career relating to quality patient care, program development, and advocacy for clinicians across the spectrum of medicine.
Dr. Grogan spends his free time maximizing the outdoor life in the Pacific Northwest. He can be found running, hiking, fishing, and skiing typically with his children in tow or on the sidelines of youth sporting events around Tacoma.

Since 2021 Dr. Grogan provided patient care in the Madigan Sports Medicine Clinic to military beneficiaries and active duty service members while simultaneously precepting and supervising the musculoskeletal education of medical students, residents, and advanced ultrasound fellows.
He also partnered with the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Special Operations Community to provide on-site, multidisciplinary assessments and procedural care to expedite decision-making and treatment to keep soldiers at the highest level of performance.

Dr. Grogan was first privileged in bedside ultrasound in 2016. He finished a dedicated advanced ultrasound fellowship in 2021 with special emphasis on musculoskeletal diagnostics and therapeutics.
While on active duty, he was the Associate Director of Madigan Army Medical Center’s Advanced Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship, was the U.S. Army’s subject matter expert for the development of POCUS capabilities in resource-limited environments, and was the leader of the Defense Health Agency’s Global Enterprise POCUS Infrastructure Development Project.
Dr. Grogan is a key opinion leader in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), is a lead educator for the Global Ultrasound Institute, has led numerous educational workshops across the country, and has held multiple leadership positions within the clinical ultrasound community.

Dr. Grogan spent the majority of his military career in medical education. He completed a dedicated, two-year Leadership and Faculty Development Fellowship and spent four years as a Residency Director overseeing the education of budding family physicians. Dr. Grogan was primary investigator and associate investigator on multiple grant-funded, IRB-approved clinical trials with the Musculoskeletal Injury Rehabilitation Research for Operational Readiness (MIRROR) program investigating novel musculoskeletal ultrasound and orthobiologic, regenerative techniques for nonoperative patient care.
He presented research findings and musculoskeletal topics at local, regional, and national venues.
